Page Update: 04/30/10 1:46 pm | Page Accessed: 2909 Time(s) Field Guides: Everyone should have at least one of these listed: I listed them from best to okay for Pennsylvania. (course that's just my opinion)
Reptiles and Amphibians:
1. "Amphibians and Reptiles of Pennsylvania and the Northeast"-Hulse, Arthur C., McCoy,C.J., Censky, Ellen J., -Information you need to know and more you might want to know and even more that's just plain interesting. Photos and illustrations Excellent but sometimes a bit small. My favorite PA Herp Book!! Interesting range maps and sightings maps-but just because they didn't find one species in your area-it still might be there if it's in range or just beyond-very cool idea.
2. "Reptiles and Amphibians of Eastern/Central North America" - Conant, Roger and Collins, Joseph T., -Nice illustrations and photos-information very complete-most people use this one for reference.
3. "National Audubon Society Filed Guide to North American Reptiles and Amphibians"- Execcelnt Photos not as complete as the above-info. excellent.
4. "Pennsylvania Amphibians and Reptiles" -Shaffer, Larry L., -Info is good illustrations not so good
